Consulting recruiting 2021 is not that far away
How to approach landing interviews with MBB next fall (starts now) + I'm starting a Tlog (it's like a vlog, but over text message)
Now that 2020 consulting recruiting is over, huge congrats to all those who got their dream jobs. To those who didn’t - you will be fine. Believe me. You will (as long as you work hard). Read below:
2021 recruiting is not that far away. When I was a junior I was extremely confident I would have interviews with all three MBB firms because I had been networking for 1+ years. That was exactly the case. I got interviews with all three. This is how:
Think about it. Everyone reaches out to consultants (I get multiple messages every day) right before recruiting. It’s impossible to get back to everyone. But now that recruiting is over, things go radio silent. I would take advantage of this and start networking for next year today. Don’t wait until next week or next month. Start now.
You will maximize your chances if you build relationships over time. Not if you ask for a call in August of 2021 when everyone is doing it. This is what I did and it worked.
My challenge to you: reach out to 10 consultants over email or LinkedIn before the week ends.
My Tlog!
I’m starting a Tlog! It’s like a vlog, but via text message. Every day I’ll be sending tweet-length texts documenting my thoughts and daily experiences. You can even respond and we can have a conversation if you want. This was today’s:
Please send in your questions about consulting/recruiting/networking/etc.!
I would love to come out with weekly content about consulting. Can you help me by sending in your questions via the button below? Each week I’ll answer one of these.
Also, if you got into a consulting firm this fall, please reach out over LinkedIn! Would love to feature you in this newsletter (6k+ subscribers)!
Hope school and everything else in life is going well amidst all the chaos. And keep working hard. I cannot express how much a good attitude makes a difference.
All the best,
Michael
How was your experience at Bain as an intern and what responsibilities were you tasked with?
Some consultants accepted my connections some time ago but how do I network. How do I steer up conversations
